Mission Committee
Goals
& Objectives
ECLC's goal #3:
Boldly
engage the ECLC community in missions of justice and service to shape
the life of the congregation and the world around it
In
response to this goal, the Mission Committee objectives and strategies
are:
Support
ECLC members in their daily life mission work – at school, at work,
at home, at play
a. Explore
the possibility of small group discussions on topics such as living
out faith at middle school,
at corporate headquarters, at clinic, on the soccer field
b. Sponsor three adult forums focused on faith and daily living.
Provide ongoing
opportunities for members to experience new mission and service opportunities
a. Pursue
a potential relationship with Selian Lutheran Hospital in Tanzania
b. Nurture and expand relationships with existing partnerships
Provide information and resources for ongoing advocacy
work on behalf of the vulnerable in our community
a. Utilize
and expand congregation communications about existing needs
b. Sponsor monthly adult forums
c. Host the mission advocacy table
d. Host the annual mission fair in October
Work to maintain and support ongoing metropolitan-wide
justice and service opportunities
a. Recruit
volunteers as needed by current and/or new partnerships
b. Provide
opportunities for members to “tell their stories” of their
involvements in justice/service projects
c. Continue
to provide leadership for the Edina Affordable Housing Initiative
Continue to
identify and implement ways to influence the ELCA and its focus on mission
and justice
a. Provide
ongoing financial and other support to RIC
b. Provide support and volunteers for the “Gather Us In”
conference in July
Develop a
“seamless garment” from the many patchwork pieces of service
and justice already in place in the ECLC quilt
a. Collect
snapshots of many members’ “patchwork pieces”
b. Create ways to bring those pieces together
c. Visibly present the seamless garment of service and justice at the
Mission Fair
