News from ECLC 2005 Annual Meeting, Jan. 23

Each year ECLC holds an annual meeting, as specified by our congregation's constitution. This year's meeting was held on Sunday, Jan. 23, after the 11:00 worship service. Some of the important matters approved were:

• the proposed 2005 budget ($601,000);
• election of the Council of Ministers and representatives to affiliated organizations;
• a proposed bylaw change to strengthen our Personnel Committee; and
• a resolution that expressed ECLC's disagreement with the ELCA's Sexuality Task Force report because it did not recommend the ordination of gay and lesbian Lutherans in committed relationships nor did it support the development of services of blessing and commitment for such couples..
• members present also encourage the "Foundation committee" to continue its work to develop a proposal for an ECLC Foundation.
